D_A_R_trio: Jean-Jacques Avenel
He studied the guitar then the double-bass. Self-taught player, he contributes to many musical projects with great musicians, notably collaborating with Kent Carter and Irene Aebi, Steve Lacy's band, Zool Fleicher Trio, Richard Galliano quartet.
He recorded many albums with Louis Winsberg, Steve Potts and plays with David Murray, Don Cherry, etc.
He also plays the kora (African harp) and created his own Trio (with Yakouba Sissokho et Lansine Kouyaté) which is now a Quartet with Michel Edelin.
